Catch-up and a new layout...

Supplies: Scalloped paper is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Daisy D's and MME. Journaling sticker is Daisy D's. Other stickers are 7Gypsies. Lettering is Pink Paislee. Misc ribbon. Pen is an American Crafts Slick Writer.

I got out one of my old Scrapperie kits (October 2007's Indian Summer) this afternoon and played a little. This picture was sitting on top of the stack and I thought I knew what this layout was going to be about, but it took on a life of it's own! I got inspired by some of the stickers/labels in the kit and it went in another direction, but one I was enjoying! I had actually planned on this being a layout for a stash challenge at YMBD, but I added the Pink Paislee (new) lettering right at the end! Oh well! Just have to do another stash layout!

It was a crazy busy weekend this past weekend! I worked Thursday night, Friday night until midnight and then all day Saturday and Sunday! The store had their annual weekend crop this weekend, so it was fun, but busy!

George had yesterday off, so it was a chance for us to see a bit of each other. We did have to take the car in for brakes though and I was on preschool duty in the afternoon. I had planned on going to bed early, but got my second wind and ended up watching The Bachelor! Yes, I got sucked in again! Who do you think he'll pick??

For those of you that have been keeping my grandma in your thoughts, thank you! She was finally moved to a rehabilitation center and will be getting speech therapy as well as physical rehabilitation there. It's still just a day at a time and we're hoping that she make some real improvements!

Well, I'm off to Tracy's here shortly so I can run our taxes through her program and just get them done. I've never done them this late before!! Oh well, they'll get done!

Have a great evening!

Dance Fever!

Did this layout this afternoon for a challenge at Scrapbook Heaven. I also used my current Scrapperie kit called Spring Break. The idea for the ribbon came from Jennifer McGuire's 101 Things You Can Do With Your Scrapbook Supplies (pg 33). The title is Making Memories foam stamps that I used paint with and cut out and then outlined and put Stickles on. Had fun with this for sure and just played and tried some things I hadn't done before.

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket. Misc ribbon. Title and paint for the title are Making Memories stamps and paint. Used Stickles on top and an American Crafts Slick Writer to outline them. Rub-ons are Creative Imagainations.

Yeah OK, that picture was taken a few years ago and we were probably rockin' out to Rod Stewart or something, but it totally reminds me of my mum and being a kid dancing around the house! I was so happy to have found this picture just because I figured it was one of those silly everyday things that I'd never find on film! Little things make me happy!

Well, off to work here again tonight and it's probablt going to be a busy one because of the weekend crop the store is hosting! We have all that going on as well as a crop in the store. Good thing there's extra staff on tonight!

Another everyday layout!

Used my Scrapperie Spring Break kit to do an everyday layout and what all the things on the table say about our life. This was a picture from Nov '06, so things are already so much different! I actually couldn't find the picture on my computer, but because I blogged it, I managed to get a print from that and just my blog entry as the journaling!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket. Circular paper is KI Memories Lace Cardstock. Felt is Fancy Pants. Title is American Crafts Thickers and Basic Grey Boxer sticker lettering.

The journaling reads:
I had to laugh when I looked at this table the other day. I was sitting feeding Nathan and this table is beside Nathan's high chair. It's one that Kyle sometimes sits at, but it also seems to collect general stuff too.

So, on the table, there are flyers for a furnace guy since we need ours cleaned. There are cloths, bibs and a plate and spoon from feeding Nathan. There are also Nathan's snacks and leftover yogurt containers from both Kyle and Nathan. There are Kyle's new scissors we got him to teach him how to use. He and Daddy were doing some Halloween decorations with them, so there's also tape on the table from that. Of course, there are the regular crayons (in the pumpkin bucket) and paper that are on the table for Kyle's creative endeavours. There's also a take-out menu for a Chinese food place near us that we've been talking about trying forever and never have.

Funny that these things sort of sum up my day to day life these days! Not sad about that in the least.

I'm not saying that there aren't days that I miss work and being around more people, especially considering the social type of job I have, but there really isn't anything better that being able to spend my time with the boys. They both seem to be changing so quickly. If only we could get rid of these colds we've got again and get out and do a few things to help keep all of us sane!

Hope you're having a great day!

You're Gonna Miss This

I finally managed to get a layout done today with my fabulous Scrapperie Spring Break kit! I used the song title and chorus of Trace Adkins newest song because it makes me cry!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper are Basic Grey Boxer. Dotted sticker is Kelly Panacci by SandyLion. Circular "Born to Play" sticker is Reminisce. Page Pebble is Making Memories. Heart is Tim Holtz Grungeboard. Title is American Crafts Thickers.

Here's the song for anyone that hasn't heard this and the last verse is the best!

The Gauntlet at Scrapperie

Do you want to participate in an exciting new scrapbooker's challenge for a chance to win some great prizes and maybe even become a Très Chic Girl? To celebrate our first anniversary, Scrapperie will be hosting a new contest to get your creative juices flowing! The contest, called The Gauntlet, will be completed in seven challenge-filled stages and will run from May 1-June 30, when the Grand Prize winner is announced.

Starting on Sunday, April 27, those interested in participating in The Gauntlet must submit one layout into The Gauntlet Gallerie and sign in on the Scrapperie forums. Anyone interested in participating has until 11:59 PM CST on May 3 to sign up and enter an initial layout into the Gallerie. The initial layout may be something previously made, published, etc- it should just showcase your best work. (Any project from that point on needs to be never before seen and specifically made for The Gauntlet's challenges.) Sorry, but any projects submitted to this contest must be primarily paper based. No all digital layouts will be accepted. Hybrid layouts are welcome, but it must be obvious that the layout is mostly tangible products.

Prizes will include a Grand Prize package valued at over $75 and a position as a Très Chic Girl for the upcoming term (July-October). First place is a prize package valued at over $50. Second place's prize package is valued over $35 and third place's prize package is valued over $25. Other prizes may be awarded at the judges' discretion. Everyone entering the challenge will have chances to win Scrapperie gift certificates for the Boutique.

The Gauntlet's winner will be determined by a non-biased panel of judges. Projects will be judged on creativity, originality, design and how closely each challenge is followed. Please come visit Scrapperie's contest forum for complete rules and details of The Gauntlet.

If you're stuck in a rut and wanting to win some great prizes, come play along in Scrapperie's Gauntlet!

Wiggle Mania

OK, well today is the day that we're off to see The Wiggles! George went to take Kyle for a hair cut because he needs it and particularly because they have preschool pictures on Tuesday! Kyle's the one that's really excited about today because, of course, he's the one that know what's going on! I can't wait to see how Nathan and Sophia react to all of this today! Concert is at noon!

A Mini Book

As I mentioned before, my grandma had heart surgery and some complications afterwards. I'm afraid she's still in the hospital, so to hopefully lift her spirits a little, I thought I'd make a little book with recent pictures of all of us since she doesn't have too many at least in hard copy (I e-mail them to her from time to time!).

I used one of my older Scrapperie kits from Sept 2007 called Social Butterfly which had a lot of Basic Grey Infuse. I also had a small 6X6 pad of Basic Grey Blush, so I combined the two lines for the masculine and feminine! I'm quite happy with how it turned out and I hope she enjoys it.

I'll post a little more of an update with what's going on with us soon too! We've got a big day tomorrow because we're going to see The Wiggles!! Kyle is excited (this is his 4th concert if you can believe it and the second time he's seen The Wiggles) and Nathan's just not too sure what's going on, but I think senses he should be excited too!

Bye for now and have a fabulous weekend. Off to get ready for work for me!

Too funny!

This song by Brad Paisley makes me laugh every time I hear it! Enjoy!

When you see a deer you see Bambi
And I see antlers up on the wall
When you see a lake you think picnics
And I see a large mouth up under that log
You're probably thinking that you're going to change me
In some ways well maybe you might
Scrub me down, dress me up oh but no matter what
remember I'm still a guy

When you see a priceless French painting
I see a drunk, naked girl
You think that riding a wild bull sounds crazy
And I'd like to give it a whirl
Well love makes a man do some things he ain't proud of
And in a weak moment I might walk your sissy dog, hold your purse at the mall
But remember, I'm still a guy

I'll pour out my heart
Hold your hand in the car
Write a love song that makes you cry
Then turn right around knock some jerk to the ground
'Cause he copped a feel as you walked by

I can hear you now talking to your friends
Saying, "Yeah girls he's come a long way"
From dragging his knuckles and carrying a club
And building a fire in a cave
But when you say a backrub means only a backrub
Then you swat my hand when I try
Well, now what can I say at the end of the day
Honey, I'm still a guy

And I'll pour out my heart
Hold your hand in the car
Write a love song that makes you cry
Then turn right around knock some jerk to the ground
'Cause he copped a feel as you walked by

These days there's dudes getting facials
Manicured, waxed and botoxed
With deep spray-on tans and creamy lotiony hands
You can't grip a tacklebox

Yeah with all of these men lining up to get neutered
It's hip now to be feminized
I don't highlight my hair
I've still got a pair
Yeah honey, I'm still a guy

Oh my eyebrows ain't plucked
There's a gun in my truck
Oh thank God, I'm still a guy

I'll hopefully be back later with an update!

Get Your Scrap On!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Japanese Origami paper. Title is American Crafts rub-ons. Misc brads. Bamboo Stamped image is by Delta Creative. Japanese stamp sticker is ProvoCraft. Ink us Palette Burnt Umber.

This layout was done for the new challenge at Get Your Scrap On! which is a fun new challenge site - go check it out and let them know I sent you! The challenge was to scrap some pictures from a trip. I picked these ones of my mum's visit to come and see me when I was living in Japan because she just recently found the card on the layout and gave it to me.

It was really hard seeing her go after her being there for about a month. When she left, I gave her the card. I made a pocket for it on my layout and scanned the inside and that's what's on the front of the pocket with the card in it! The bottom funny picture of me was on the back of the card and was taken from the main floor of my apartment in Japan looking up towards me in my "loft", which is Japan means barely enough room to sleep and sit up!

Well, I'm off to work here in just a bit, so I'd better run! It should be fun because it's the first crop in the new store and it's a full house tonight I think!

A little catch up and a layout!

Well, I'm going to start with the fun stuff and a new layout! I decided to try out for the Sketch This design team that Janelle Richmond does. I'm sure there'll be a ton of applications, but you don't know unless you try! I always love the sketches and have played with quite a few of them, so this is the sketch and my layout.

I also decided to try a challenge ides from the Sisterhood of Scrap online crop that's happening now. Lisa had a "Connect 4" challenge on her blog, so the cluster in the top right was born! I had so much fun playing with the new Making Memories "Jack" line on this one!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Paper is Making Memories "Jack" as are the epoxy and felt embelishments and star brads. The ribbon is Making Memories. Tag is MME Wild Asparagus. Rub-ons are Creative Cafe by Creative Imaginations. Ink is Palette Burnt Umber.

Now as for other things going on... The biggest reason I haven't been blogging as much is that a lot has been going on with my grandma as some of you already know. She had heart surgery 2 weeks ago tomorrow and though that went well, she's had some complications since - the worst of those being a stroke. It was considered minor and mostly affected her speech and swallowing, but those do seem to be improving. There is a lot of work to be done, but we're thankful there's improvement. I'm hoping that I'll find out they took out the feeding tube when I call today!

We're all good though! Nothing too much new with us. Sophia (my niece) celebrated her second birthday this past weekend and actually turned 2 on Tuesday! How time flies! I can't believe I've been taking care of her for more than a year!

I worked all last weekend because the store had their grand re-opening! It was absolutely crazy and there were great deals to be had for sure! I was wiped after working both days of the sale and then had preschool duty on Monday after that! Not my usual relaxing "day off" with the boys. Oh well, I got to go hang out with Kyle at school and he loves that!

Better run for now, but please keep my grandma in your thoughts!
Take care,

So, the idea is then to pass it on, so along with the above ladies, I'll add some more names to this list! I have a bunch of ladies that I know have gotten this a few times already, so as much as I think they're great, I'll try and give it to a few others...
Michele
Megan
Jayme
Shannon
Marie
Ally
Nonie
Debbi
Rachael
Sofia - a blog writer in Japan

Have fun checking out all of these blogs and leave them a comment and tell them I sent you!

We're in the new store!

OK, so I haven't been blogging much because I was working crazy hours in the store trying to help get everything moved to the new, bigger location! I worked in the old store Thursday and Friday nights and then the move was on starting Saturday evening, so I was in then, as well as alllllllllll day Sunday and Monday when the store was actually closed for the move. It was a LOT of work for everyone, but it was worth it because the new store is amazingly fabulous!

I worked my first actual shift in the new store last night and it was fun! It's great having the extra space and the new location though it's a challenge finding things! That'll come in time too though just like it did when I started working at the store and didn't know where things were. We all sort of know where some things are because we put them out, so we can help each other too! We're having a grand re-opening this weekend, so that should be fun!

I'm hoping to get back into some scrapping now that all of that is done and I'll blog a little more too with any luck!

Have a fabulous day!
Cheers,
Colleen
