More Playing with my Bind It All!

OK, so I recently posted a food journal I'd made with my Bind It All and I think I mentioned that I pulled it out again after making cookbooks for my family with my mum and my sister.  I had more of the Creative Cafe coloured chipboard that I mentioned in my previous post as well, so I just took some Fancy Pants paper and used that along with some American Crafts Thickers for the title and some Bella Diamond Ice Baubles to give it a little pop.  Along with some stash ribbon I had, this was another one of those quick stash projects.  I'm having so much fun with these that I'm thinking I might start doing a few for gifts!

These are the cookbooks we did for family for Christmas.  My mum collected all the recipes and then we put them together.  Just used chipboard covered in Bazzill cardstock and then some of the Flair paper that I printed right onto.  Fairly quick to actually assemble once everything was printed!

Well, guess I'd better go do a few other things and add some more to my list of "to-dos" in my new notebook as well.  I'm using it to help keep me on track and organized for the new year since my "One Little Word" for 2010 is "purpose".  But more about that another time...

I finished something important...

OK, so I'm on the bandwagon too as far as trying to eat better and get healthier!  My weight is a constant battle and I just have to look at this journey the same as any other adventure - one that will have ups and downs.  For me, I know one of the keys to being better about my food is having a food journal, so I decided to make something fun that I would want to actually use!

I got out my Bind It All (which I seem to be a little addicted to for projects lately!) and whip together something.  This is a true stash project!  I used some paper that I got a few months ago from My Mind's Eye and put it on some Creative Cafe coloured chipboard that I've had for more than a year!  All the ribbon was from my stash and I pulled the green Thickers, metal lettering that is ancient, and small Making Memories stickers out of my stash as well.  The circle journaling item from MME was on my table as were the flowers, button and even a flat top eyelet!  Just sprayed a little Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist before putting the journaling spot on the front and that was it!
A fun, quick little project that will now get used right away!

A mini!

Kyle was a little sad the other day with not seeing his Nana and Grandpa for a while, we we decided to make a little mini album for them with family pictures!

The best parts about this project were that
- we used pretty much only scraps from my scrap files for this
- we just used random pictures I had already developed that were on my table
- Kyle did most of this himself
- we got to spend time doing it together
- my parents were totally surprised when they got it and absolutely loved it!

I made it through another seemingly neverending day being sick with 3 kids! I was pretty much done by the time George got home and I was thankful he picked up pizza! I was also thankful that one of the girls covered for me at work tonight because there's no way I could've worked until midnight and then taught in the morning. As it is, I'm hoping my nose copperates tomorrow! I'm off to bed now as a matter of fact!

A Mini Book

As I mentioned before, my grandma had heart surgery and some complications afterwards. I'm afraid she's still in the hospital, so to hopefully lift her spirits a little, I thought I'd make a little book with recent pictures of all of us since she doesn't have too many at least in hard copy (I e-mail them to her from time to time!).

I used one of my older Scrapperie kits from Sept 2007 called Social Butterfly which had a lot of Basic Grey Infuse. I also had a small 6X6 pad of Basic Grey Blush, so I combined the two lines for the masculine and feminine! I'm quite happy with how it turned out and I hope she enjoys it.

I'll post a little more of an update with what's going on with us soon too! We've got a big day tomorrow because we're going to see The Wiggles!! Kyle is excited (this is his 4th concert if you can believe it and the second time he's seen The Wiggles) and Nathan's just not too sure what's going on, but I think senses he should be excited too!

Bye for now and have a fabulous weekend. Off to get ready for work for me!

A SOS Blog and Layout Challenge

As part of my Sisterhood of Scrap weekly duties, I issues a blog journaling challenge today.

This time of year after the craziness of the holidays and with the not so great weather can be hard for a lot of people. I think it's more important than ever to remember all those little things that we're thankful for whether it's the great cup of coffee you had at breakfast, a little time to yourself or a kiss from someone special.

My challenge is for you to blog a list of 10 things you're thankful for today - big or small! Even better would be for you to turn that into a layout or mini book. I've been working on a mini book that I'm adding to a little at a time and it's on my blog as well!

** I'm also happy to be offering a little prize for anyone that actually does this as a layout as well. You'll have until January 31st to comment to this thread with a link to your layout and I'll randomly draw someone's name to win!

My gratitude list today...
  • my morning cup of Starbucks (brewed at home)
  • a cuddle from my "big guy"
  • my commute being as far as the living room
  • having gotten the dishwasher unloaded, reloaded and on before 6am!
  • my health (even though I may be starting to get a cold)
  • friends old and new
  • continued learning about who I am and where I want to go in this life
  • knowing that I always have the unconditional love and support of my family
  • the kiss from George just before he leaves every morning and when he comes home after work every day
  • the shining little face of my "little guy" when I get him out of bed and the warmth I get when I hear that excited "Mummy!" every morning

I think on my agenda today should actually be a layout about exactly this though I have a few others running through my brain too. Here is the mini album I've been working on that some of you have already seen, so if you have, you have to excuse me posting it again and my plan is to do another layout or 2 for it today, so I should have something new to post tomorrow! Come back and check!

OK, well think this is it for my gratitude post for the day! Let me know if you've blogged this because I'd love to stop by your blog and check it out! Thanks for stopping by mine...

Cheers,
Colleen
