Happy Birthday Honey!

Happy Birthday George!

Yes, this is just another opportunity to quickly wish George a very Happy Birthday! We left the kids at Tracy and Brian's and had a nice dinner out and went for a coffee. Really relaxing and enjoyable. Will have some pictures tomorrow of cake since we thought it was too late for the boys tonight, so we're going to do cake with them at lunch tomorrow!

Friday Fill-Ins

I was reading Darlene's blog an decided to try her Friday Fill-Ins!

1. I'd really like a nap right now.

2. Damn is the word you'd most often hear me say if I stubbed my toe.

3. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. Though I can't say I believe that!

4. Give me some Captain Jack Sparrow.

5. Marshmallows and fire go together like peanut butter and jelly.

6. Wednesday this week went on and on.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to it being over since I think it's going to be a busy night at work, tomorrow my plans include work and dinner out with George for his birthday tomorrow and Sunday, I want to relax and watch the Super Bowl!

Another day at the dentist...

Yes, so today was the 3rd appointment I've had in as many weeks at the dentist and I was hoping it'd be my last for 6 months! Went for my cleaning after not having been in a bit and I'd be lying if I said it was in any way OK, but I got through it and I love the new dentist and the hygienist I had today. Very thorough and communicative. Just getting that tartar off isn't very much fun!

They did find one more little cavity as well that I need to go back and have taken care of, but I'm giving it a couple of weeks before I go back, but I do have an appt made already! She said it was small and better to get it now and considering it's only the 3rd one I've ever had, I guess I don't have much to complain about.

Thought I'd make SpongeBob one of my Project 365 pictures since we have him all over the house in just about any form you can think of - books, comics, stickers, movies, lunchboxes, backpacks, Christmas tree decorations, mugs, etc!

And, of course, I'm hoping this little item will soon be a thing of the past though I can't say Nathan has much interest. He'll sit on the potty for ages, but just won't actually use it! I'm trying to tell myself that it'll all come in good time and that pushing him too much isn't good either. I'm just sort of over the diapers/Pull-Ups at this point!

Nothing too much else to add here tonight. I did watch the first episode of Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsey was in good form! Should be another interesting season...

Hope tomorrow is the beginning of a great weekend for you!

Resist Embossing with Paint

I just did this tutorial for the Scrapdango January Newsletter!

Resist Embossing with Paint

This is a fun technique to try with supplies that a lot of you probably already own.

Photobucket
Supplies
stamps
Versamark ink or a pigment ink (something slow drying)
clear embossing powder
heat gun
acrylic paint

1. Stamp your image on flat cardstock.
2. Put embossing powder on the stamped image and tap off extra.
Photobucket
3. Heat emboss.
Photobucket
4. Mix acrylic paint with a little water and paint over the cardstock.
Photobucket
5. Wipe over the painted area with a paper towel and the paint will come off the embossed image and pop through.

Tips and Ideas
**To prevent the embossing powder from sticking in places you don't want it to, rub a dryer sheet over your paper before you start.
**Don't add too much water to your paint or it'll soak your paper.
**Use a textured paper for a different effect.
**Use different paint applicators to get different effects.
**Try the same techinque with ink and a brayer.
**Try using different coloured embossing powders.

Play with this and have fun!

More snow...

Yes, we did get the snow they predicted in the forecast, but also as predicted, it wasn't too much. The boys did have to go out and play in it before dinner though and this was the aftermath when they decided they'd had enough out there in the cold!

George called me about 10ish this morning and left a message he was coming home since I was on the phone already when he called... I was worried since that's not like him, so called him back only to find out he'd slipped on some plastic that was wet with snow and bashed his right side rib cage area on a big rock. He went and got checked out by the medical people at work and they didn't think he'd broken anything, but he's definitely stiff and sore. Thankfully nothing worse than that though by the look of things.

Well, I need sleep here, so it's off to bed for me! I actually fell asleep on the sofa just before posting this so I really am tired!

Sweet dreams...

Gung Hei Fat Choy!!

Yes, today is the celebration of the lunar Chinese New Year! Kyle came running out of class saying this to me today waving around a dragon puppet that they'd made in one hand and a little red envelope in the other. I heard about his day at school for ages and then we had to call Nana and Grandpa so he could wish them a Happy New Year too! So funny!

Happy Year of the Ox!

Sunny Sunday!

Yes, after what I heard on the news last night was 20 days of fog, we had a beautiful sunny day! Of course, I was also teaching today which meant being inside, but there are lots of windows at work and I had a nice drive as well.

Got to sleep in this morning since I got up early with the boys yesterday. Sort of had a relaxing morning and then got ready and headed out to teach. Had my class and ended up being there longer than planned. Even though my class was over at 3pm, I didn't leave until almost 5, so I got home for dinner and afterwards has lucky enough to catch a great show as seen below in my picture for the day...

Kyle has been working on making puppets while I was at work and then he put on a puppet show for me. My favourite was actually a giant that I might have to post a picture of later as well.

Managed to get a few chores done this evening and then worked on some layouts for March classes since those need to be in at the end of the month! Need to find some time to do some more fun stuff of my own too! I want to scrap some nights, but have just been tired and without mojo lately! Thankfully, when I sat down tonight, things really came together quite well, so I was happy with what I got done!

Off to bed with me now though...

Tired...

OK, I think I'm beyond tired now and into exhausted! I was up early with the kids after working late last night and then only getting 4 hours of sleep before they were up. I then went to work and had a crazy busy day at work all day.

Came home and did dishes, helped put the kids in bed and read stories and then packed my page kits for my Playtime class tomorrow! Everything is now done and I'm heading for bed and I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow!

Pyjama Day!

Yes, it was pyjama day at school for Kyle today and this was one of about 20 pictures I tried to take since I wasn't getting a very good one! Of course, they got downright silly eventually and then Nathan wanted his picture taken so the 2 of them were fighting. Great way to set off for school on a Friday morning!

Nathan and I came home and puttered with a few things which included making double chocolate muffins which he, of course, doesn't like at all! Couldn't resist this picture and it was only one of a bunch I really liked today!

Not much else going on here. Just trying to get ready for work! I got a blog award from Theresa and Darlene as well, but I'm just going to have to try and post it this weekend since I need to go finish a few things and the kids are running around like crazy.

Have a good one!

Thursday again...

Thursday again already... not sure where this week has gone!

- Sophia here today
- Kyle at school
- very cold and foggy still
- George came home early to take Kyle to his Dr. appt to get his adenoids checked, but it turned out to be not very worthwhile to go since he's stuffed up from a bit of a cold
- made a "mistake" dinner with the crockpot and a bunch of veg: not bad!
- couldn't find my mojo tonight to scrap
- watched Grey's and it turned out to be by Project 365 picture of the day!

This show continues to produce storylines that make me bawl!

How was your day? Have a happy Friday!

Trucks, Trucks Everywhere!

Another crazy busy one! Not sure what's going on these days, but we seem to have a lot of non-stop ones lately and weeks feel like they're flying by! Here it is mid-week again already!

- up early to take George to work
- dealing with the Patullo Bridge extra traffic after the fire this week, so left early
- stopped at Tim's for a coffee
- came home a side street and found out just how icy it was when I tapped the brakes and slid though not too far and I wasn't going quickly!
- got Kyle ready for school
- mum and Trace showed up with the kids
- took Kyle to school
- hung out and chatted and had a visit with mum, Trace and the kids
- picked up Kyle
- lunches
- had a shower and got ready for the dentist!
- dental appt to redo a filling went fairly well
- came home
- dad picked up mum
- Trace picked up Sophia
- boys and I went and picked George up at work
- home for dinner
- a little relaxing
- bedtime for the boys
- Criminal Minds for me and George on the computer for a bit
- off to bed now!

And it's all a blur! Dentist appt was OK though it's a little sore now. She said it might be, but hope to give it a day or 2 and it'll be good as new. Have one more appt next week just for a cleaning/check-up and hope not to be back for 6 months after that!

History in the making...

I'm sure we've all heard this more times than we can count today, but there really is something special about this day. Something in the air...

HOPE.

And not just for Americans, but for people all over the world that see the power in the change that Americans made in electing not just their first African-American president, but someone that stands for something different. He seems to be surrounding himself with the right people and has acknowledged the road will be long and rough, but I think there's a concensus that people are willing to work through those tough times if there's still...

HOPE.
Hope for change.
Hope for a better tomorrow.
Hope for a different kind of world.

It's a lot of weight for one man to bear the burden of, but somehow, someway... I think there really is HOPE. How are you feeling about the inauguration and the 44th president of the United States?

Another day gone...

Do you ever have those days where you just wonder where the day went? Well today was one of those for sure!

- up waaaaay too early with the boys
- George slept in
- took Kyle to school
- meeting with the principal and vice-principal about emergency preparedness for the school (my PAC postition)
- home for a while with Nathan and he had an "accident"
- George went to get Kyle from school and pick up diapers and lunch
- lunch
- nap
- up and ready for work
- George went out to run errands
- I went to teach my class
- home now and time for bed

And still haven't posted pictures! Need to get on top of that again!

I'll be busy tomorrow too though watching the inaguration of President Obama! What an exciting day!

Nice change of pace...

Yes, it was a much more relaxing day after the craziness of yesterday...
- slept until 10am when the boys woke me up!
- had a lazy morning hanging around in my sweats
- lunches and then Nathan went for a nap
- George and Kyle went to do groceries and an oil change on the car
- after they got home, I went out for a coffee at Starbucks with Tracy
- dinner
- all 4 of us went for a walk in the fog
- played online a bit while the boys watched a movie
- bedtime for the boys
- George is playing WarHammer

- I watched The Wedding Date - cute chick flick!
- just made a fabulous orzo salad for our family potluck tomorrow
- time for bed...

Have the pictures for Project 365 on the other computer that George is using for his game, so I'll have to post those tomorrow!

On the go since 5:15am!

OK, so yesterday, I went into panic mode about a tooth that's been bothering me and started wondering if there was really something wrong like having an abscessed tooth or something. I don't have a regular dentist anymore since mine retired. I tried another and hated him, so I made an appt with a woman that some other mums have recommended and she, thankfully, seems great!

I had trouble sleeping last night worrying about all the awful things I might have to have done today, so I ended up sleeping on the sofa so I didn't keep George awake all night. He got me up at 5:15 this morning so I could take him to work and have the car. Got the boys up too and took him to work and stopped at Tim's on the way home for coffee. Came home and had a shower and got the boys dressed and ready to take Kyle to school. Came home after dropping him off and hung out for about an hour before going to pick up my mother-in-law so she could look after the kids. Went to my dentist appt after dropping her and Nathan off at home.

I was petrified and felt a little sick (because of nerves) by the time I got the to dentist. Nice office with all the conveniences of modern technology that's for sure. Didn't even have to move from my chair for the x-ray. Anyway, after they looked, what they think happened is that my last filling (that the idiot dentist did) has shifted. She thinks that's also what's causing the swelling in my gums. Thankfully what that means, it looks like, it that they just have to redo the filling and my issues should be solved, but I guess we'll know more once she redoes it next Wednesday! I'm just glad it's not worse!

After the dentist, I stopped and did an errand and then came home to find the boys having lunch. When they were done, we took my MIL back to the Skytrain so she could go home. We came back here so the boys could nap, but neither of them did and now we're off to go pick up George from work and as soon as we get back, I have to leave for work! What a day!

I'm behind on posting my Project 365 pictures, but hope to get caught up this weekend! Have a good one!

Happy 3rd Birthday Nathan!!

"I BE 3!"
Wow! It's absolutely amazing to me that this little bundle of joy was born 3 years ago today! We're very lucky because he's a wonderful little boy and pretty good for the most part though I really do wish we could get through the potty training! We celebrated on Saturday, but there are cupcakes to be had later on!

Love the stylin' shirt that you picked out to wear today! Quite the fashion statement! You were havin' a little trouble showing me the 3 fingers you needed to so we did the cheater way. You keep telling everyone "I be 3"! Love you bunches little man and you'll always be my baby!

Project 365 Catch-up!

I wanted to make sure I got some pictures posted here so that I didn't get too far behind with my Project 365. I tried earlier this morning, but Blogger wasn't letting me upload pictures.

The first couple are from Saturday when we celebrated Nathan's birthday since it's actually tomorrow, but George works all day and then I'm teaching in the evening! He just wouldn't smile nicely when we had the cake out, so what you see is what a 3 year old will give ya!

This is a sweet one of Nathan in the evening after a full day including a trip to Build a Bear, no nap, and lots of company and running around with Sophia and Kyle. He's holding Wally, the koala bear he got that day at Build a Bear though you can see the clothes that he picked for the bear: a t-shift with a guitar and flames around it and black pants!

I worked yesterday, but I did get my Tim's coffee and it was actually on the way to work AND on the way home! I don't normally stop on the way home, but I needed to stop and make a phone call since I didn't want to chat on my cell and drive and Tim's was close. I figured I'd better go in since I was there!! My usual is an Extra Large French Vanilla Cappuccino with half coffee so it's not too sweet.

.And last, but not least, is today's picture from this morning when the kids were still in their jammies, but were very busy playing Playdoh. Kyle made this little guy and told me it was Daddy!

I'm afraid I stayed up waaay too late last night trying to get some things done, so I'm quite tired, but managing OK. Kyle got up and 6am this morning, but decided that he'd wake up Nathan on his way into my room! Yes, Nathan who is staying up when we put him to bed recently and hasn't napped the last 2 days. He's got to crash eventually... Today with any luck!

I got some things accomplished this morning - laundry, e-mail, phone calls, and dishes between getting Kyle to and from school, so it's been a pretty good morning considering how tired I am! It's going to be a relaxing evening consisting of some scrapbooking after the kids go to bed and The Bachelor... And for those of you watching, I can't believe Deanna's back!?!

Enjoy your evening...
