Fun Project

Well, I was poking around online last night and checking blogs when I found this fun little project on Shirley Fyfe's. It's a little pillow gift package and she has the template and everything right on her blog, so I couldn't resist trying with some of the Paper Element paper that I got in my September Scrapperie Social Butterfly kit. I also used twine and gems from the kit and cut the butterfly from some Paper Element paper and inked it with Burnt Umber Palette ink (just for you Tara!). I'm afraid the pictures aren't great and them gems are actually all the same colour in real life, but you get the idea. It was fun and didn't take that long either. The only thing I would add to her directions (which are great) is that I did my scoring on a mouse pad and that worked fabulously!

Not too much going on here today really. I made a boo boo this morning though when I thought I worked a shorter day that I was supposed to! I thought I was on 11-4 and I was actually on 10:45-5:30 - OOPS! I was only 5 minutes late though I thought I was 10 minutes early... It was steady all day with the sale on, but not crazy.

Came home, had dinner, got the kids ready for bed and here I am with a cup of coffee. Was thinking I'd scrap a bit, but not sure I have the inspiration right now. Might catch up on the couple of shows I have taped from earlier this week instead.

Scrapperie Blog Topic: Blog about what you're looking forward to in October!
I love the changing weather in October. The falling leaves, fresh air, and, yes, even the rain. We often try to get out to see the salmon spawning at the fish hatchery and this is a fun day that I always look forward to. I also love Thanksgiving (Oct 8th here this year) and there's Halloween of course as well.

Today's 2Peas Blog Challenge~ Do you make Halloween cards? If so share some of your work.
I actually don't usually do Halloween cards, but might try a few this year since I got a kit of Making Memories Halloween stuff that I want to play with!

Hope everyone has a good week!
Cheers,
Colleen

Design Team Layouts

I finally managed to get some design team layouts finished and posted after getting my Scrapperie Social Butterfly kit on Monday. It was a crazy week and it took me almost a week to be able to get to it what with working a couple of nights this week and my foot still not being good. Also had Christy here for a visit, but more about that in a bit!

I had fun doing some pictures of Tracy and Sophia and I'm going to give them to Tracy for Sophia's book. The second picture is just a close-up of the masking I did with the Heidi Swapp butterfly mask that I used from the kit. I added gems to the masking afterwards as well and was happy with the result! The second layout is another one of me as a kid and is just about how much I always loved the first day of school. I also did a couple of cards with the kit goodies that were inspired by Card Creations 5 - love this magazine!

So, as for our crazy week...Monday was a lot of running around since I took George to work and kept the car so I could take Kyle to preschool. I also got to the doctor about my foot and had my diagnosis confirmed - plantar faciitis. He gave me some strong pain killers/anti-inflammatories and referred me to a podiatrist, so I'm going there this coming Monday!

Tues zipped by with miscellaneous things happening and Sophia being here of course. Mum came over on Wednesday and I managed to get some extra cleaning done and we got Kyle to his teddy bear picnic at preschool that he was so excited about. I worked that night and it's been busy this week because of the sale that's going on.

Thursday was crazy because I needed to finish getting a few things done around here and get ready for mum and Christy (my aunt) coming in the afternoon. It was really great to have a visit with her! Mum picked her up from the ferry and she was here for a late lunch and a really good chat. I only wish we could see her more often now, but it's not that easy with her being on the other side of the country! It just seemed like the visit wasn't quite long enough... I also got a great massage for my back that gives me grief from time to time.

Friday was one of those days where you need to remind yourself to be thankful for the little things! Nathan and Sophia seemed to go at it all day. Whatever he had, she wanted and vice versa. When he didn't get what he wanted, he'd scream and when she didn't get what she wanted, she'd cry. It was a long day and I was happy to be working last night just to get out of the house. It was especially fun though because Tracy and a few other mums from my mum's group were scrapping at the store!

I didn't have to work today, so my plan was to sleep in, but that didn't quite happen. I woke up to an empty bed and to see Kyle running into the living room from that bathroom seemingly whispering something to George. Sure enough, I go in the living room and the 2 of them are sleeping on the floor. The only thing was that the reason for the impromptu camp-out was an "accident" in the middle of the night. Being half asleep, I think George thought that was easier than finding new stuff and remaking the bed!

We did a few errands and I got some scrapping in today though, so it was a good day! Nothing too crazy busy, but nice on a day that both George and I are off. George took Monday off too, but it's because I have a crazy day with appts and preschool duty, so he's staying home to help out more than anything! I work tomorrow, so it's boys day in our house!

Well, better run for now! Have a fabulous Sunday!
Cheers,
Colleen

Fun Quiz!

This quiz is the blog challenge at Scrapperie today, so I thought I'd try it myself since it's a fun one and I hope you play along too!

1. YOUR ROCK STAR NAME: (first pet & current car) Dog Mazda

2.YOUR GANGSTA NAME: (fav ice cream flavor, favorite cookie) Vanilla Ginger Molasses

3. YOUR “FLY Guy/Girl” NAME: (first initial of first name, first three letters of your last name) C. Hei

4. YOUR DETECTIVE NAME: (favorite color, favorite animal) Red Giraffe

5. YOUR SOAP OPERA NAME: (middle name, city where you were born) Jill Prince George

6. YOUR STAR WARS NAME: (the first 3 letters of your last name, first 2 letters of your first? Hei Co

7. SUPERHERO NAME: (2nd favorite color, favorite drink put “The”) Blue The Coffee

8. NASCAR NAME: (the first names of your grandfathers) Don Paul

9. STRIPPER NAME: (the name of your favorite perfume/cologne, favorite candy) Amor Skittles

10.WITNESS PROTECTION NAME: (mother’s & father’s middle names ) Dawn Walter

Well, that was worth a good laugh this morning! The little ones are down for a nap already here this morning. Well, Sophia asked to go to bed, but she usually rests rather than sleeps! Nathan needs his nap!

Mum is coming today for a visit and to help me get Kyle back and forth to school since I've got my bad foot still. Went to the dr. on Monday and had what I figured confirmed, so I'm seeing a podiatrist this coming Monday. The dr. thankfully gave me a good pain killer/anti-inflammatory, so that's certainly helping. I just can't walk Kyle back and forth to pre-school because I need to do it twice and then I'm working tonight too. Not gonna happen!

I didn't want Kyle to miss class either because he's very excited. The first thing he said to me this morning is "Do you know what today is?". I said no, so he proceeded to show me his teddy bear and tell me that it was the teddy bear's picnic today. I asked if teddy was excited and I was told (after Kyle holding the bear up to his ear and listening) that teddy is very excited! They've been doing bear related things all week and today is their picnic and they have a special snack and everything, so Kyle politely reminded me that we don't need to pack a snack today.

Christy (my aunt) is out for a few days too, so we're managing to get together with her tomorrow, so mum is going to pick her up from the ferry as I assume she was over visiting Grandma! I'm hoping that with mum here, I can get a little picking up done too so that the house isn't a disaster! It'll be nice to see her and for her to see the kids since she lives on the other side of the country now and we don't often get to see her!

Today's 2Peas Blogger Challenge~
How often do you meet with friends to scrap? Do you wish it could be more?

I maybe get together with friends once a month at a crop (if that). I like scrapping with other people, but it's more a social thing for me than a scrapping thing since I always get more done at home by myself. For me, maybe once more a month with some different friends would be fun, but we can't seem to managed it with this other group of girls!

Well, better be off for now...have a great day everyone!
Cheers,
Colleen

Great Mail Day!

This is what arrived on my doorstep at about 10:30 this morning finally! Most of the others got theirs a week ago, but they were in the States and it took a while to clear customs and everything! This is my first Design Team kit for Scrapperie and I'm so excited! Can't wait to get at it and create something with all the yummy paper in here as well as everything else!

Other than that, it was just a crazy busy day! I took George to work, so the boys and I were up early doing that. We stopped at Tim's on the way home and took Tracy a coffee and had a visit with her and Sophia before we got Nathan home for his nap. Then it was a rush up to see the doctor about my foot and all the sinus pressure I've been having. My guess was right in that I do have plantar faciitis and he's sending me to a podiatrist which is, of course, not covered by medical because, hey, walking's not important! I'm also now on a nasal spray to try and clear up my sinuses before I do develop an infection.

In all that, I also managed to get the kids some lunch (OK, so I admit to going to McDonald's for grilled cheese sandwiches) and then getting Kyle off to preschool. I got Nathan home for another short nap, but noticed he appeared to be having a little allergic reaction to something though I'm not really sure what. I was wondering if it was the hand sanitizer I used on him after playing in the doctor's office. I don't usually use that stuff, but all the sick kids playing in their freaks me out and makes me think mine are going to end up with all that. Not sure, but it didn't seem to last long. He wasn't happy when I had to wake him up to go and pick up Kyle though and the rest of the day was a series of little meltdowns because he was tired.

We picked up George and came home for dinner. The final straw was when George left with Kyle to go and get a few groceries and Nathan realized he wasn't going (too close to bedtime). I had to fight him to get him changed and every time I'd get him settled by reading or singing, he'd start again. He finally climbed out of my lap and asked to go to bed. Fair enough! We brushed his teeth and off he went!

It's nice now that they're both in bed and we have a little quiet time though. George is watching his show and I'm going to watch The Bachelor later. Or maybe I'll tape it since it's on later and then I can zap through the boring bits! Need to go take my medicine and make sure I get some sleep so I can deal with the three kids tomorrow and hopefully get some scrapping done with all my new goodies!

Scrapperie Blog Topic: Blog about something you're looking forward to in terms of your scrapping!
I can't wait to break into that kit and I also have that book of Kyle's that I want/need to make and think it'll be fun once I get the board cut for it!

Today's 2Peas Blog Challenge~
What do you do to calm yourself down when your very upset or stressed out?

I often find a long, hot bath to be my best remedy in this situation, but sometimes I also find it better to talk it out with someone depending on the situation and that somehow makes it better even if it isn't resolved.

Well, better run for now!

A quiet Sunday...

Well, I back again finally and have managed to get a couple more layouts posted! These are both inspired by Kisha (kikibug) at Scrapper's Daily Dose. I had fun doing them! The picture of Kyle's hand on mine was taken when I was trying to get a picture of my bracelet for something else and he wanted to hold my hand. I decided to do a layout about the expression "always always" that I say to him and what it means. The other is just about how Kyle poses all the time when I try and take pictures these days!

Not too much new going on around here really. I worked yesterday and will again a little later today! That means that's about it for the day because I'm generally too tired to do much when I get home even though I feel inspired after working at Precious Memories all day and seeing all the scrapbooking stuff around me!

I'm having some problems with my foot again as well. I've had plantar faciitis from time to time, but this time it's really bad and it's not going away! I've been trying to take care of it, but think I might have to go to the doctor and see about getting orthotics - not my idea of fun! I can't say I'm surprised though considering how flat my feet are! I think it was a matter of time. I just want to be able to walk! I need to to get Kyle back and forth to preschool and for work. I also want to be getting more exercise to be able to lose some more weight and it's not happening right now.

Today's 2Peas Blogger Challenge~ With the holidays being close. Do you have a scrapbooking wish list started? If so whats on it.
I don't really have anything that I want in the way or scrapping stuff right now to be honest. I have enough to scrap for more than a little while. The only thing I'd like is a gift certificate to get some more new paper as they come out!!

Well, guess I'd better be off to get a few things done this morning. It's George's turn to sleep in, so I'm up with the boys! Nathan is having a good sleep though and still isn't up!

Cheers,
Colleen

Finally Scrapped Again!

Well, I haven't been blogging or scrapping much in the last while. There are so many amazing challenges from the Scrapperie Cyber Crop, but I've been sick and very busy! I think the colds are finally through our house and I'm hoping round 2 won't be for a while. I managed to get a card and 2 layouts scrapped!

I have so many other things to post about too, but it'll have to wait for another time for now.
Today's 2Peas Challenge~ Do you have any colors you have a hard time using on your layouts/cards?
I have a really hard time with purple and pink too I guess. They're not really my colours personally and having 2 boys to scrap means a rarely use them!

Colleen

My latest project

This is the little book I did for Kyle for his preschool "comfort kit" in case they end up there for an extended period of time in an emergency. The idea was to put in a family picture, but I decided to get more creative than that! It's a little chipboard album that was 4X4. The patterned paper is Carolee's Creations.

Cheers,
Colleen

Playing Catch-Up

Where to start, well, more than a week ago now, I had a wonderful day out with my friend Laurel and her little guy Alexander. We went over to Maplewood Farm since neither if us had been there.

It used to be a working farm and they've turned it into a place for kids to see and, in some cases, interact with animals. There are horses, ducks, rabbits, goats, cows, pigs, etc. We even saw a goat milking demonstration and they try and teach the kids a little about the goats and the farm while they're doing that. We also bought some bird food and fed all the ducks and chickens that were wandering around everywhere. A lovely afternoon!

We also went over to the quay on the holiday for a walk and a little "get out of the house" time.

As you can see, the slide was the hit - even for George! hee hee I don't think he believed me when I told him I was going to post this picture on my blog, but here it is!

We also stopped a coffee and a little treat at my favourite little place at the quay called Farm Cottage Bakery. They do the most amazing stuff! Their pies and cakes are to die for, but we all have our little favourites. George always gets a pecan sticky bun and Kyle gets a Monster Cookie (big one with Smarties in it). I always have a Scottish Oat scone though my favourite is an apple turnover thing, but it's not so good with Weight Watchers! We also got some really nice scones so Nathan could have some of that, but he ended up liking mine more anyway!

Kyle is very excited about school. We had a teacher interview on Wednesday, so we all walked up there. Nathan wasn't really copperating as he wanted to keep "tapping" Sophia on the top of the head and I had to push the stroller with one hand and hold his with the other. The "interview" went well and was only about 15 minutes - just enough to give me some info and for the 2 teachers to interact with Kyle a little.

I also had a preschool meeting that evening for all the news parents to the preschool to give us some general information. Nice meeting some more of the local families with kids about the same age as mine too.

Nathan is talking up a storm these days and seems to have a new word every day. He'll try and say just about anything you say now. This morning he said "Kyle" for the first time in a way you could really understand too so that was exciting! Of course, poor dad is "Bampa" now too since Sophia and Nathan are both calling him that!

Well, guess that's about it for now anyway as I need to go and get ready for work as much as I may not feel like it right now! I had yesterday off, but I did do a little volunteer work for the preschool yesterday (which is part of our duties as members of a parent participation preschool). It was fun though as George and the kids walked up and looked around at the little community event that was going on. Kyle was all excited about the bouncey castle!

Better run! Have a great day all!

Cheers,
Colleen
