Proud Mama!

Today, there was an assemble for the K-3 classes and they presented awards and recognized summer birthdays. I knew, but Kyle didn't that he was getting an award today, so here he is getting the award from the principal at the school and then with his teacher afterwards since I didn't get one of her handing him the award!

Kyle was one of 2 kids in his class to get a citizenship award.

He really loves his teacher and she'll be teaching Grade 1 next year, so I'd love it if he got her again, but who knows. We'll have to wait until September to see!

Very proud of him for doing so well this year and it's hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of the year. The Kindergarten kids participate in the Grade 7 assembly tomorrow and sort of "escort" them out apparently. A short day with report cards and that's all that's between us and summer holiday! Amazing!

Cards and Kindergarten Day 2!

So this was our second day of school and though I won't claim to be in any kind of routine yet, it was easier today that yesterday. Of course, it was only the boys and I to get ready since George had to go back to work today despite having a cold and being stuffed up. It's OK, because he was quite happy that they had training on the new Bobcat at work!

Anyway, Tracy came over just before we were headed up to school, so we walked with all the kids! Kyle took his backpack today for the first time and he was quite excited to be taking his hand-me-down (from my manager's son) SpongeBob backpack full of school supplies. When he got home he was a little upset that I'd left all the supplies at school!

When we went to pick Kyle up, I decided I'd better take the stroller since Sophia is a dawdler and it might take me forever to get there and back if she walks! She also managed to wipe out twice when she was walking when we took Kyle up there because she doesn't look where she's going! Much easier with the stroller!

This card was one I was playing with using some of the amazing goodies in my latest Scrapperie kit - Summer Camp. Had fun playing with my Threading Water border punch that I got from my friend Michele!

Well, don't think there's too much else happening here today! The kids are napping and Kyle and I are hanging out. It turned out to actually be another nice day and I'll take this as long as I can get it - my favourite time of year!

Kindergarten Kid!

So, today was the day! The first day of Kindergarten! It's funny because it seemed like when we bought the house and I was so very pregnant with Kyle, that we talked about how great it would be for him to go to school there and it just seemed like sooo long into the future! And yet here we are today!

At the end of preschool and for half of the summer, Kindergarten was all Kyle could talk about. Though as we got closer and closer there seemed to be more of the wanting to stay at home. He was lucky this morning though that George had the day off and we were all able to take him up to school this morning.

I, of course, wanted some pictures. George had the camera and shot this first one right away and it was the best! He just looks like such a big kid!


And then the silliness started with Kyle and his million faces! He just couldn't smile nicely again! He's quite the ham!




Anyway, we all went up to school and found his class. The teacher wanted to talk to the parents about a few things and that took about 15 minutes, so there was only about 30 minutes of class left today. We went out and George followed Nathan around while he played and I chatted with a few of the other mums. Before we knew it, class was over and we headed home! This whole week class is only 45 minutes to ease the kids in.

Kyle didn't say too too much about class when we asked - just that it was good. When mum called tonight though, he told her quite a bit more! They apparently did some music time, something with a calendar on the wall and spinning a wheel (no wonder that was a hit!) and then said they didn't do story time!! Maybe they were going to and ran out of time or something?!

Afterwards, Tracy dropped off Sophia for lunch and the afternoon. I asked Trace if she wanted to bring Matthew and stay for dinner since Brian wasn't going to be home, so they did that. Was fun having them stay and we just did an easy dinner of spaghetti, Caesar's salad and garlic bread!

Oh and the other thing that happened this afternoon was that Kyle went to get his Kindergarten booster shot. We were planning on doing it in the summer and it got later and later and then he had his surgery, so it just never got done. I wanted George to have the fun of being there for one of those, so he was on duty today! Apparently it went fine and Daddy promised him a Slurpee if he was good, so he happily came home with one of those!

Well, that was about it for our first day! We'll be going for another 45 minutes tomorrow!!

Hard to Believe!

Wow! It really is hard to believe, but today was the day I had to register Kyle for Kindergarten. I really couldn't have imagined this day coming and for some reason, I was the one that was nervous!

I figured it might not be that much fun only because I needed to take the 3 kids with me. I put Nathan and Sophia in the stroller and packed snacks and off we went. By the time we got there, some people were already registering and I thought we'd be about the first people there. We all filed down to the school library and picked up a package of stuff to fill out. Of course, I ran into some other mums of kids going to preschool with Kyle and who'll be in the same school though not necessarily in the same class.

We had a long form to fill out and then had to stand in line. I was trying to keep the little ones in the stroller, but I eventually gave up and let Nathan out to play with the Lego they had in there for the kids. Sophia wanted "uppy", so I hung onto her. We waited and got up to the front and I had to apologize as she was asking me questions about things I'd forgotten to fill out on the form. The reality was I was so distracted trying to keep all the kids happy and get out of there as quickly as possible that I just plain missed some questions! After her checking the form and the documentation for our proof of residence (to show we're in that catchment area), we had to get in another line to see the Public Health nurse and for her to check immunizations. All was good though Kyle needs a booster shot before starting school in September.

The kids really weren't happy by the time we left and Nathan and Sophia were both crying. Of course, to make matter worse, I had to put them in the stroller to get everyone out of there in a decent amount of time. We went out to the playground at the school to play and run around for a while anyway and that was good until we had to go home for lunch!

I had taken the camera with me to the school and wanted to take pictures, but there was so much going on that I didn't get even one! I took a couple after Kyle got home from preschool so that at least we have some pictures from this momentous day. Kyle was being his usual silly self though and we have the funny grin in the first picture and then the grumpy face in the second. He makes me laugh!

Well, better think about getting to bed here I'd say as it's been a busy one. I did manage to watch the first episode of Big Brother tonight and it looks like it's going to be a good season!

Hard to believe!

Well, I'm in a bit of shock these days with all the 'big boy" things going on in our house lately. This past week, I spent making phone calls and figuring out what I needed to do to get Kyle registered for Kindergarten! Then, on top of that, Nathan is going to be 2 tomorrow!!

I just have one question - When did all this happen? I feel like I blinked and here I am!

Well, I'm just going to have to think about it a little more tomorrow because I need to get some sleep after working until midnight last night and then all day again today. Came home and did some cleaning and picking up since we have my family coming over tomorrow for a little party. Unfortunately, George's parents can't come, but they'll be out for a little visit soon. And Opa popped in for a quick visit yesterday and to give Nathan some birthday money - hopefully for some swimming lessons!

Oh, I almost forgot that I have a fun bit of scrap related news too, but I can't share it quite yet! Have to wait until tomorrow sometime!
