Scrapperie Kit Layout

OK, so I got the fabulous May Scrapperie kit called La Cage aux Folles and this bit you see here is just the Essentials kit and you can add the Trimmings and/or The Extras as well.

Things have been so crazy that I had to apologize to Sandi for not being more on top of getting some layouts/work done with the kit, but this is the first one I did with some pictures that Tracy took of Sophia almost 2 years ago now! They're too funny! I used one of Ally's sketches from http://www.sosketchy.blogspot.com/ as my inspiration too!

Supplies: Patterned paper (base) is Anna Griffin. Other patterned paper is Crate Paper. Cardstock is Bazzill. Stamps are Autumn Leaves. Ink is Palette Burnt Umber. Gems are Making Memories and Hero Arts. Rhinestone and flower brads are Making Memories. Bird and flowers are Crate Paper. Title lettering is Doodlebug and Making Memories (small lettering).

You should check out this thread at Scrapperie and see all the amazing work that the ladies there have done! Fabulous!

A great check-up!

Yeah! They don't want/need to see us back at Children's Hospital! I'm soooo happy! So, I took Nathan for his check-up yesterday and they told me that there is still a little dilation/enlargement, but since everything else seems good and that he's healthy, they're not going to have us back. The only reason we'd need to go back is if some problems started like he was getting urinary tract infections or something. The doctor said that if this had been 20 or 30 years ago, no one would probably have even known he had this (they didn't check for it the way they do now) and he'd be leading a very normal life. Can't tell you how happy that makes me!

OK, now onto a little creative fun! I did these cards with a package of goodies I got from Virgina Wong as a result of a challenge she posted at Scrapshotz. She kindly sent us these card packages after it was all said and done and I added a couple of things and made 2 cards!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill and Bo Bunny (yellow). Patterned paper is Basic Grey. Flowers are Imaginesce (left card) and Prima (right card). Misc brads. Misc fibers. Button is MOD. Embossing done with Cuttlebug. Thank you stamp is Studio G (Hampton Art).

Think that's about it for today. This is my one somewhat sane day this week as all the rest have had something crazy going on - tomorrow will be the same with Kyle's last Kindergarten prep class and me working in the evening! Nothing going on today and that's about what I intend to do - nothing! Have a good one!

Children's Hospital today...

OK, it's not quite as bad as it sounds (we hope!). I have to take Nathan for a check-up appointment at Children's today for his kidneys. Many of you know, but he was born with a condition where his kidneys were both enlarged. Kyle had this with one kidney, but of course it's more serious when it's both. We have been periodically going in for check-ups and it seems to be self-correcting or, in other words, he's "growing into" his kidneys! We're hoping that this may be the last of them or at least they won't want to see him for a while because things are going well!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned Paper is Cogsmo by Cosmo Cricket and KI Lace Cardstock. Journaling block and "title" are also from the Cogsmo line. Ribbon is American Crafts. Misc. twine. Date rub-on is Creative Cafe by Creative Imaginations. Stickers for date are Doodlebug.

This layout was done for a layout tag over at ScrapShotz! I do love me some layout tag!

Well, guess that's about it for now. I'll update later or tomorrow with info about Nathan's appointment! Kyle is all excited because they're having an ice cream party at preschool today since there's only one more day after this and then his "graduation" ceremony. Let me tell you, he's not excited about the idea of preschool being finished! Better run!

Slow Sunday

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is American Crafts. Lettering is American Crafts foam Thickers. Buttons are Autumn Leaves (Foofala Bag of Buttons). Misc fabric. Flowers are Prima. Brad is Making Memories. Ribbon is American Crafts.

OK, not just Sunday, but all weekend for that matter! I haven't gone to the massage therapist in a bit and it's catching up with me. I've had a back back/headache for days. it comes and goes a little depending on what I'm doing/not doing for it and what I'm taking, but I really do need to go again!

The above layout was one I did yesterday for the current challenge that's going on over at Scrapbook Heaven. We had to use at least 2 pictures, 15 of something, 4 textures and there had to be hand written journaling on it. It was definitely a challenge, but fun for sure!

I had a very lazy day yesterday and scrapped a bit while the kids napped, but George was volunteering at the city open house, so we were taking it easy! He's already out moving the grass this morning before I head off for work. It's the last day of our 3 day anniversary sale with 50% off all regular priced items in the store if you can believe it! I didn't move from the till on Friday night for the 6 hours I was there!! Not even sure what'll be left to sell by today...

Well, guess I'd better go start thinking about getting ready for work here!
Have a great day and I'll be back with more posts soon I hope!

Why aren’t you crazy?

"Why aren’t you crazy?"

“Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why
they don’t. In the face of all we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what
the hell it is that makes us hold it together.”

This was near the end of the Grey's Anatomy I finally just managed to catch up on at http://www.ctv.ca/ It was a great episode and makes me really look forward to the 2 hour finale tomorrow night. And the above question posed is a good one. Considering everything that we go through in a lifetime, it really is a wonder that we manage to hold it together at all. One thing is for sure, watching that show was another reminder of how truly lucky I am and how wonderful my life is even on days when I might not think so.

Not too much going on around here. Kyle's off at preschool, but will be home soon and Nathan and Sophia are napping. I didn't manage to do anything creative this afternoon, but watched Grey's instead! I'd love to say I was going to scrapbook tonight, but I'm going to our last preschool meeting for parents tonight instead. Hmmmm...can I think of a few things I'd rather be doing?!

Another crazy week around here and the next couple of days will help to add to that, but more later about all that! Nothing crazy...just busy!

A new blog challenge!

Ok everyone, the new challenge is up at Get Your Scrap On!, so go check it out and I hope you play. The challenge was to create something inspired by a vintage ad and I had the altered project this week, so go check out the ad on the blog and you can see how I was inspired by it! I'd love to see how you're inspired!!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill and Peterson-Arne. Patterned paper is Heidi Swapp. Rub-on lettering is Making Memories. Chipboard lettering is Heidi Swapp. Misc ribbon. Large eyelets are We R Memory Keepers and small star eyelets are Making Memories. Rub- on Star Border is Kaiser Craft. "No girls allowed" sticker is 7Gypsies.

I have so much other stuff to get caught up on here on my blog that I hope to get at that soon too. So many fun pictures of the kids and updates on what's been going on! It sure has turned out to be a busy and somewhat crazy month! More on that to come...

Wonderful Wednesday!

Hey all!

Just a quiet day at home here really. Kyle and I are still getting over bugs and I'm hoping Nathan just has a cold and nothing worse. He actually woke up really early, but thankfully went back to sleep! I think we'll manage to get Kyle to preschool today and that'll be about the extent of our day to be honest. I have a layout about half done for a layout tag, so that needs to get finished off today.

I might pop into work and get my cheque tonight. Part of that'll be just to get out of the house what with us being sick and the weather being really yucky and rainy yesterday and today! Hoping it improves for tomorrow because assuming we're all well enough and the weather cooperates, we're going to the Vancouver Children's Festival!

Guess I'll leave you with my fav song from American Idol last night sing by David Cook. Enjoy!

Sick again - and a card!

OK, yes, it's true, we are sick again! I mentioned yesterday that I woke up at 5am yesterday with a sore throat and couldn't get back to lseep because of it. Well, I went to the doctor and decided to take Kyle with me since he's been sick for a week or so too. he said he had a sore throat a few days ago, but that that was now better. He's had a horribly runny nose and a cough where you can hear the gunk in his chest. So, anyway...we're both sick and now on antibiotics!! I have to admit that I feel better even today though after only one dose of anitbiotics!

I did manage to try out a card that I've seen a million times and have just never actually done! I actually got out some of my stash and did this in no time! The template came from Mirkwood Designs. This was really quite easy too!

Supplies: Patterned paper is DCWV. Misc ribbon, and charm.

Not much else going on here today! It's yucky and rainy and what with Kyle and I still getting over bugs, I convinced him to stay home from preschool today. We're going to go do some fun stuff in one of his activity books, so I'd better get going!

Cheers,

A catch-up again!

Wow! It seems like I just post and by the time I get back here it's days again!

I really did have a wonderful birthday! Mum and dad came to watch the little ones and apparently, Nathan cried for about a half hour after Kyle and I left until he was ready for his nap!! Poor mum! The Mother's Day Tea was absolutely wonderful and I'll post some pics later for that and go into a little more detail. After George got home, we went out for dinner at White Spot and I had a fabulous veggie burger and fries! We came home and had Black Forest cake to top it all off!

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the wonderful mums I know and that drop by my blog! I did the cards below for the current challenge at the Get You Scrap On challenge blog! The challenge is to do something for or related to your mum - cards, a layout, a gift, whatever! Come on over and play! The bottom card is for my mum and the top ones are for my MIL and sister!

We had a wonderful day yesterday as long as I discount the way I woke up and the day started! I woke up at 4am with what felt like a hole burning through my chest. It was my own fault too unfortunately! I'd had some Salt and Vinegar chips the previous night and then fell asleep on the sofa - not a good idea when you have a hiatus hernia! I was in so much pain and didn't have the medicine that I needed that I got up and got dressed and went to the closest 24 hours drug store to get it! After getting there and taking the medicine the second I got in the car, I started to feel better right away! I came home and went back to bed at about 6am!

I was awoken at 8am again by the boys and a plate full of homemade waffles and turkey sausages! The boys, including George, had all made pictures/cards for me the day before when I was at work and they're wonderful! I love my boys!! The rest of the day was pretty relaxing and I didn't even manage to get up enough energy to scrap like I'd planned! We went out after a nice dinner at home that George made and went for a little drive and got some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The best part was that they were making the originals when we got there and Kyle showed me how they made them and explained the whole thing to me - so cute! He loves seeing how things are made!

I watched the Survivor finale and have to say that I was a little surprised at the winner! I loved the fact that it was all women at the end though and I think any of the last bunch deserved to be sitting there as the winner! I loved the speech that Ozzy did at the last tribal too!! Tonight is the Bachelor finale as well!!

OK, so I woke up this morning at the crack of dawn again with another "issue" and that is my throat is so sore that I feel like I can't/don't want to swallow. Guess I'll be making a trip to the doctor today because I won't be able to sleep tonight like this!

Oh and before I forget, since I'm already a day late, the winner of my little birthday RAK is

Sheila D said...
Happy Birthday!!!Happy Birthday!!!Hope you have a terrific day. From the sound of it, you will. On my birthday I would love to order in and cuddle up and watch a movie. Spells R&R in my book. NO, it has never happened.

Happy Birthday to me and a little Blog Candy for you!

To ME! Yes, another year older and - whatever!! Just a number to me and things are wonderful, so the label doesn't matter! I'm lucky enough to have a fabulous husband and 2 lovely little boys and be living in a house I love. I have amazing family and friends both near and far, so what more could someone ask for on their birthday?! Oh, OK, winning the lottery would be nice, but hey, we can't always have it all! hee hee

It's going to be a fun day actually. Mum and dad are coming a little later this morning and we're going to hand out for a couple of hours and then they're going to watch the kids while I go to preschool with Kyle. It's the last day of preschool for the week and since Mother's Day is Sunday, they're doing a Mother's Day tea and I think a lot of work has gone into this, so it should be fun. Not sure what we're doing for dinner, but George told me not to worry about it and mumbled something about going out for dinner! If I can manage a little scrapping later, it'll be perfect!

So, to celebrate, I'm going to be doing a little scrappy blog candy! Make sure you leave me a comment with your info and what you like to do on your birthday!! I'll send someone a little present!! I'll leave it open until Sunday!

Christmas layout!!

Well, I did actually manage to get out from under the heap of laundry I was working on and when Kyle went to preschool and the kids had a nap, I got a chance to scrap. This was a layout inspired by the DW Calendar (one of the May layouts).

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned papers are Basic Grey Blitzen. Jolly dit cue is MME Wild Asparagus. Riendeer embellishment is K&Company. Title is Amercian Crafts Vinyl Thickers and Wordsworth Stickers. Misc flt top brads. Journaling font is Moderne. Gems are Kaiser Kraft.

Not too much else happening today really. A few chores earlier as well as the laundry and some picking up. I watched The Bachelor this afternoon that I had taped last night, so I could go to bed early! Forgot it was "The Women Tell All" and was glad I had taped it, so I could fast forward through all the repeat bits! Not sure who's he's going to pick next week, but I guess that the fun of it!

Sophia is going to be here a little later since Brian unfortauntely missed the ferry. He sure didn't sound happy when he called to let me know! Think she'll be eating with us though as a result! Now I just have to figure out what's for dinner!

A card and a relatively relaxing day!

This is a card I did this afternoon that's going to be sent to my grandma.

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Basic Grey Blush. Ink is Palette Burnt Umber. Flower is Prima. Gem is Kaiser Craft. Butterfly epoxy sticker is Rhonna Farrer "Scribbles". Font is Beyond Wonderland. Heat embossed flower along the top part of the card are Kelly Panacci by Sanylion.

Nothing too much going on here today. I actually managed to "sleep in" which in this house means I didn't get up until almost 7am! I cleaned up the kitchen a bit and did some laundry. Tracy and Sophia came over and we had our Tim's coffee and then we went out in the backyard for a while and the kids played. It actually ended up being fairly warm and nice - at least compared to what it's been lately!

This afternoon was a quiet one with Nathan napping and Kyle at preschool! One of the other mum's thankfully picked Kyle up and Nathan wanted to go to bed shortly after, so I had a couple of hours to myself.

I orignally planned to try out my new Spellbinders scalloped dies, but can't find the plate for my Zip E Mate right now (and let me tell you I did spend a while looking?!). So, plan B was just to get out some goodies and make one of the Mother's Day cards I need to do! This one needs to get in the mail, so I wanted to do it today!

Hope to have a relaxing evening and not do too much of anything other than maybe a little scrapping again!

Colour Challenge and a new Scrap Diva!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is We R Memory Keepers. Rub-ons for the title and the date are Creative Cafe (Creative Imaginations). Stickers for the date are Doodlebug. Foam lettering for the title is American Crafts Thickers. Brads are Making Memories. Photo Anchors are (very old) Scenic Route.

What a fun layout this was to do and it was for the challenge blog Get Your Scrap On! I've very happy to say that I'm now on their design team as a Scrap Diva and you'll be seeing my work once a week on the blog! This was the first challenge for the new team and it was a colour challemge that you can check out on the blog! Come check it out and play along. There's a prize to be drawn for this challenge that'll be announced later in the week.

I did use a sketch as inspiration for this challenge too and it was one of Becky Fleck's Page Maps for May. These are amazing sketches that always seem to come together so easily for me!

Hope everyone had a wonderful National Scrapbooking Day! We had a wonderful day around here than involved me sleeping in to start with! George went out for a hair cut and I hug out with the boys and made lunch. Nathan had a nap and after that, we all headed out for me to get my driver's license renewed! We made a quick stop at Michael's for George to get some craft paint and then he stopped (as a surprise) and got me to pick out a new pair of shoes as an early birthday present! Sweet guy!

Came home and watched some of the NASCAR race and Ryan was 6th, so not too bad. I also finished off my layout and it's about time to call it a night since I work again tomorrow!

Enjoy your Sunday everyone and come check out the challenge!

Cheers,
