A layout I love!

This was based on a sketch by Debbie Gaydos (below) that I loved.  It's not a new one by any means, but I knew I'd end up using it one day!  The best part about this layout for me was that not only did I finally scrap some older pictures, but I used all stash stuff that was sort out of on my table when I was creating.  The big scalloped circle on the right was even a page that I'd used the center of for something else and ended up using the outer part for this!  Love that!

I have some other creative stuff that I've been working on and hope to get posted soon as well as some recent pics!  Speaking of pictures, I also need to go and pick up the ones I ordered for developing so I can create some more!

Have a fabulous day!

Some Recent Creations...

OK, so I really don't like having my picture taken and I rarely scrap myself, but did this one for a challenge and really like the end result.  I love it when I can just play and not think about all the details and then not only enjoy creating more, but generally like the end result better!

I did this one as part of a sketch class at work with the permission of the fabulous sketch artist:  Debbie Gaydos.  These pictures of the boys seemed so easy to scrap!

And lastly, a card I whipped up with a bunch of goodies I've had for ages!  Love it when you can grab some stash and pull something together.  The papers are October Afternoon and I love most of the stuff!  The die cut label shape was done with the Noteworthy card on the MM Slice machine.

Well, think that's about it for today.  It's pouring rain here, so we'll have a little wet walk to school this morning, but I have a few extra minutes here because Sophia and Matthew aren't here quite yet - soon though!  Not much else going on other that work tonight really and I'm going to enjoy my day with the kids!

Another layout finally!

This layout was done based on a sketch by Angie!  And the best part is that I used odds and ends that I had around and had fun playing with this clean and simple design!

We've had a crazy week around here since George is off on holidays this week and trying to get his truck all fixed and hopefully on the road again sooner rather than later!  This will mean that I have a car for getting the kids back and forth for preschool more than anything.

This is also the first week that Matthew has been here with his sister, Sophia, and they're here 4 days a week since Tracy went back to work.  It's gone well, but we're not totally into our routine since George is home and we can cheat a little because he's been taking Kyle to school and picking him up and that means that Matthew gets a better nap!  He's a peach though and we're having fun!

Better run while things are quiet for a sec!

New layout!

OK, so I have been a very bad blogger! Once I stopped the daily blogging, that was it and I haven't found a rhythm again as far as when to do it.

Anyway, enough of that and onto something new! I taught a class last night called From Sketch to Scrapped and we had a lot of fun! Ally Cope of So Sketchy was kind enough to give us the sketch and here it is along with my sample. This is one of my personal recent favs!

The idea of the class was that everyone brought pictures and I helped them pick paper and get their layout completed in class minus maybe the odd thing they wanted to add from their stash from home. The great thing about this class was that they brought pictures and we worked from the beginning of the layout! It was fun to see what everyone created and how they all turn out so differently even with the same starting point! Thanks ladies for coming!

Not too much else going on here really. I'm finally feeling much better and the sun being out makes things better too! I can't believe we've only got a few more weeks of Kyle being in Kindergarten and only about 2 weeks before we get a few days in Tofino! Yeah!

Well, better go throw together my casserole if we're going to have dinner anytime soon! Hope to be back in sooner that 2 weeks this time too!

I'm on PageMaps!!

I was totally thrilled when I got an e-mail from Becky Fleck with one of the amazing May sketches for PageMaps!! I got to design a layout based on the sketch below and it and my layout sample of Nathan on his birthday are on the PageMaps site today! Check out all of her amazing sketches and the fabulous sample layouts!

I love using sketches to get things moving when I scrap! Takes some of the "pressure" off when you go to sit down if there's nothing creative coming and when there are so many amazing sketches to choose from, it then make sit hard choosing a sketch! Thanks Becky! I had fun with this!

Odds and Ends

Well, I can start my day by saying that I'm very excited to be mentioned on Marci Lambert's blog this morning! She's got a great blog and is so very creatively talented! She was doing a few reviews of her blog followers to just let people know about some of the other blogs that are out there! Fun! Thanks Marci!

I also have been negligent in posting this sketch and layout that I did for the mid-month Scrapdango kit reveal! Lovin' those papers!

What else is going on around here these days. Well, I'm still trying to get over this cold I've had for a week and a half and the boys are as well though they didn't get hit quite as hard as I did thankfully. Sophia was also sick on Friday and I thought it was croup and it turns out I was right. She's doing OK though now too!

I taught at Precious Memories yesterday and had a great time! It was a Bo Bunny Holiday Agenda class and there were 8 people there. We got through most of it other than some embellishing, so we did well. I'm looking forward to another class on Wednesday! I'll be posting samples of the classes I'm teaching in November here shortly as well!

Guess that's about it for now. I know there were a million other things I was going to blog today, but that'll have to do... Have a fantastic (though quite soggy here) Monday!

Halloween will be here before we know it!

OK, so what with fall being around the corner, I thought I'd better try and get some older Halloween pictures scrapped before the next one is upon us, so I used some Scenic Route papers from last year for this!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill and WorldWin. Patterned paper is Scenic Route. Glitter (black) paper is Making Memories. Sentiment is a stamp from the Making Memories Magnetic Stamp set. Ink is Palette Noir Black. Halloween circular die cut is Making Memories. Spider stamp on die cut is Imaginesce.

Supply List: Cardstock is WorldWin. Patterned paper is Scenic Route. Glitter (black) paper is Making Memories. Lettering is American Crafts Chipboard Thickers. Stamp for stitching is Kelly Panacci for SandyLion. Ink is Palette Noir Black. Halloween circular die cut is Making Memories. Stickers on die cut are ProvoCraft. Layout inspired by a sketch @ www.pagemaps.com

Well, better run for now since I need to get all of us ready to take Kyle up for his lasy 45 minute day of Kindergarten! So glad they're switching to a longer day starting Monday!

A Sketch from ME!

Hi all!

As part of the online Inspiration Crop going on over at Scrapdango, all the the design team members have come up with a sketch and then a layout sample to showcase it. I haven't done a lot of sketches of my own, but this was a lot of fun! I don't have PhotoShop, so I'm in the dark ages with paper and a pencil. Sorry it's a little hard to see, but here it is nonetheless!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Basic Grey and Scenic Route. Misc bulk brads. Title lettering is Making Memories stickers and American Crafts Chipboard Thickers. Ink is VersaColor Scarlet. Font is Moderne.

Are you doing anything scrappy today? I'm hoping to get something worked on today and I should actually be doing it now while George has taken the boys out for haircuts, but I seem to have a million other things I want to do right now as well since there's no one home - most of it isn't fun stuff, but is easier to do when no one else is around! Oh the joys of trying to keep up with 3 "boys" in my house!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Quick layout and a tag!

This came together so quickly with this sketch from my NYCScraps.com class and the stuff from the January Scrapperie Canivale kit! I had to take a picture of this one rather than scanning it because the flowers made it too lumpy!

Supplies: Cardstock is Bazzill. Patterned Paper is KI Memories Pop Culture. Misc felt flowers that I got in an RAK! Title lettering is American Crafts Chipboard Thickers.

I also got tagged by Katy, here so here goes!
  • You must post the rules before you give your answers.
  • You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name.
  • Each fact must begin with that letter.
  • If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name.
  • After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers.
  • At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details).

My middle name is Jill...

  1. Japan is a country I lived for 3 years and absolutely love! It would be fun to take George and the kids someday...
  2. I think having crisp, clean sheets is one of the little pleasures in life!
  3. Living in the moment is something I'm really striving to do and not worrying too much about what's ahead of us.
  4. Lists are my friends, so this is right up my alley! Yes, I'm a lover of lists! Sometimes I write things on my list that I've actually done just so I can have the satisfaction of crossing them off and seeing that they're no longer on my list of things to do!

OK, I'm going to tag...
Sandi
Joelle

Tobi
Tara

PS...I haven't forgotten about your tag Tobi and it's on my list to blog tomorrow!

Well, think that's about it for now. Not an exciting day by any means, but I got a break with Kyle at preschool and the kids napping, so it's all good. Kyle is very excited because he's going to stay with Nana and Grandpa this weekend! And then I'm working my regular shifts and George may get some overtime on Saturday, so it'll be a working weekend for us and some alone time with Nathan!

Have a great night and keep yours eyes open for some Blogoversary candy and a double celebration since I just went over 10,000 hits! Some fun stuff on the way!

Cheers,
Colleen

A New Layout!

OK, so I decided to try something new and I'm currently taking my first online scrap related class. It's called 1 in 48 and it's done by Hillary Heidelberg at NYCScraps. The idea is that you get a sketch for a layout every 48 hours and that's how long you have to try and get your layout done. The first one was posted today and this is what came of it!

Supplies: Patterned paper is all Basic Grey. "Celebrate" sticker in the title and the title rub-ons are Making Memories. 2006 is American Crafts Thickers. Misc flat top eyelets.

Jen has a blog questionnaire today, so I thought I'd play!

#1- What is your favorite color?
Right now - red

#2- What is your favorite meal?
This is a hard one because I like so much ethnic food! I've been craving Japanese food though lately - tempura yam roll!

#3- What is your latest scrapbook project/page?
See above!

#4- Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what do you have?
No pets in our house right now!

#5- What is a funny thing that happend to you in the last month?
Hmm...apparently not a very funny month since I can't think of anything other than the million funny things Kyle said in the last month!

#6- Do you wear lipstick or lipgloss?
I wear lip glass pretty much all the time.

#7- What is your least favorite room in your house?
Probably the computer/scrap area (common area) or maybe the living room

#8- Preference- plaid or stripes?
Stripes for sure!

Well, better be off to bed!
Cheers,
Colleen
