A Reminder...

I miss scrapbooking...

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, but got a real reality check a few weeks ago.  I was asked by my boss to do a private scrapbooking project for a friend of hers.  The friend's dad was turning 70 and he wanted to be able to give him a scrapbook to celebrate that as well as let him know about the surprise family trip to Mexico they'd planned for him.  I scrapped about 14 pages in a week (a lot more than the original project request!), but it made me really realize that...

I miss scrapping.
My personal pages...

I scrapbook pages for work for classes to teach and I do a lot of cards both for work and ans home.  What I don't do are pages at home and I miss it.  I'm making a conscious effort to try and get back to it as well as working on my Project Life.

I love watching to boys grow and change, but they really are changing and it's happening at a rate I couldn't have imagined, so I want to remember to document that too.  And I like playing with all my "stuff"!  I like making a creative mess and doing it without a timeline.  My goal is to try and find some balance between my work stuff and my personal...

It's a beautiful day today for Good Friday and I'm going to enjoy it.  Havea few things I'd like to get done, but mostly planning on relaxing and maybe getting in a nap.  Was up half the night with a stupid dry cough (the end of my cold) and hoping I can get rid of it soon without losing my voice as has been known to happen to me.  Have to teach at Spectacular next weekend, so I can't have that happen!

Since I'm working on layouts for a class, I'm going to end with a question today if you have a second to comment...

What are your favourite scrapbooking techniques?

Have a fabulous long weekend!
Cheers,

I like clean and simple scrapbooking and love to work from a sketch. I don't scrap as much as I used to - just don't seem to get the time anymore.

I like your Then & Now layout - great connections layout with photos from different years. One of my favorite techniques is simply inking the edges of my papers and photos, giving them a framed look.

My "go to" technique is inking - but then I am a bit hooked on the vintage shabby kind of look. I love your LO - it really made me smile. J x

Happy that you're taking some time to scrap for yourself!!

My favorite techniques (right now) are embossing & stitching.

I also like to ink the edges of photos, mats, bits of paper, embellishments... Not always all of these, but just enough to make the various layers etc look "edged" or finished. Somehow it really does make a big difference. Just now, I also like making my own paper embellishments, using punched shapes, hand cut pieces, stamping, inking etc.

Thanks for visiting my blog, glad you like the video!

Hmmmm....I like misting, stitching, and florals (adding flowers can be a technique right? LOL). I also love using sketches as someone else said.

I have cut back on commitments that don't allow me to scrap for me, as you mentioned. I so get what you are saying. Good luck with finding balance, you will get there! xoxo

I know exactly how you feel. I spent several years running a scrapbooking-related business, and found so little time for personal scrapbooking. I'm no longer "in the business" and I definitely get more scrapping time.I truly enjoy and appreciate every bit of it. Not sure if I have a favorite technique, it changes each time I discover a new one I like!

Edge distressing, misting with water and crumpling, and splattering lately. Feeling messy, I guess! I also love some stitching, but all too often I'm too lazy to get the machine out.

Love your 'Then & Now' page - I've been telling mine they're not allowed to grow any more, but they just laugh and keep getting bigger. Found you through Shimell's class, btw.

Wow I didn't know people would pay someone else to scrap for them but it makes sense. Well done on finding a way of making a hobby pay but I do hear from people who do this that it takes a lot of the fun away. I love that layout and it has given me inspiration for something similar for my children. A good way to see the years passing *sniff*
