Gratitude and a little overdue blog candy!

Well, it's just sort of another day around here. I've got the boys and Sophia, but the little ones are down for a nap/rest. Kyle is busy playing on pbskids.org and lovin' it, so I have a few minutes here.

I had a friend pop in yesterday and she was just having "one of those days". We all have them when the kids aren't cooperating and everything just seems bad and maybe even worse than it is. She just wanted someone else to chat with, so we relaxed for an hour or so while the kids played. It got me thinking last night though that even on days like that, it's important to be thankful. I was keeping a gratitude journal for a while and might start again, but here are a few things I was thankful for yesterday:

1. getting a shower and organized before Nathan got up.
2. Sophia being her silly self.
3. being here when a friend needed someone to talk to.
4. a great cup of coffee.
5. being able to go to work and have fun.
6. great cuddles and kisses from Nathan and Kyle.

There are many more things to be thankful for, but that'll do! So, that leads me to my long overdue 5,000 hit blog candy! All you need to do to enter is leave me a comment telling me a couple of things you're grateful for today and you're in! I'll leave this open until Sunday evening and put everyone in random.org on Monday and find a winner!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Cheers and have a great weekend!

Great post - a good reminder for all of us. A few things I'm grateful for today: that DH is home for the next two weeks (no business trips); that we will all be celebrating DD's 11th birthday on Sunday; and that I am having some "me" time today before the crazy weekend ahead! Have a great weekend!

I love this post! Thanks for stopping by my blog and sure you use the meme!

Okay, so things I am grateful for today: getting to go on a date with DH tonight; my parents diligent help with painting our new house; and getting to move into said house this weekend. :)

Nice post, Col. Let's see...today I am thankful that I will get to see some friends at a shower for the arrival of another healthy baby, that I am going to get a chance to do a little shopping over lunch, that my wonderful sister included my silly daughter in her post, and that my husband and I are finally going to get to spend a bit of time together because its the weekend!

PS - celebrating the arrival of a friend's healthy baby, not mine! (of course you knew that, Colleen)

I am thankful for many things today but I shall keep it brief with 3...
1. My dh who willingly did all the 8 chores on his honey-do list tonight while I was at the LSS working
2. My family who is graciously coming over to finish a tile job tomorrow in my house
3. A dog who loves me anytime of day no matter if she has just recently gotten in trouble or not.

Also, grateful for our move from Cali to Ohio going so smoothly, my ds and dd, my a.m. "me" time, and being able to actually see and experience changing seasons around me.

I'm grateful that I'm happy and healthy, that there's a room above my head, that my parents are coming for a visit, and that it's been a beautiful day.

today we went to the air show. my 18mo old loves airplanes. i am grateful for his smile and excitement every time he sees an airplane. it is so fun to see his face light up when he sees or hears a plane.
also for grandparents willing to keep our kids for us while we go on a retreat! that is a huge blessing.
those are just a couple from today.

Nice post, Colleen, and a good practice to follow ... for me, today's top 2 things I'm thankful for are my boys' good dental checkups and continued good health, and my DH and his best made cuppa coffee on the planet!

What a great post & an excellent reminder to all of us. It's funny how little we reflect on the things that we are greatful for. Today I'm greatful for my DS & being so blessed to have him in my life. (but then again I've been greatful everyday for the past 21 years for that blessing. I'm greatful today for having a friend who shares my passion for stamping, scrapping & papercrafts, shopping, etc. I'm grateful that I was able to go to a workshop today as well as do some shopping. I'm grateful that I just felt well enough to go out & have a me day. Thanks for a chance to win.

Hi Colleen,

"Thankfuls" is what Kevin and I do every night before going to bed. It is something we started after his Dad passed away, so suddenly last year, to remind us that our whole world wasn't scary, dark and falling apart. We quickly realized we had SO much for which to be thankful and it seems the lists grow longer everyday.

Today, I am thankful for a Sunday where I have nothing else to do but spend time with my boys.

Have a great day!

P.S. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
