Just popping in...

Too many things seem to be going on here already today, but I'm popping in for a quick catch up. I worked uptil midnight last night and then had trouble getting to sleep last night. The only thing is that the kids haven't figured out what sleeping in is yet, so here we are up good and early!

There's a big scrapbooking weekend thing going on this weekend that's organized by the store I'm working in part-time. Apparently last year when they had this weekend, the Friday night was crazy busy at the store, but there were 4 of us working last night and it wasn't too busy. The result of that may be that it's crazy today and tomorrow! I'm working again today, but not tomorrow. We can also go and check things out at the casino/hotel where this is all going on, but I'm not sure if I'll pop in or not.

As for hockey...well, we won last night while I was at workin double overtime again! I sat in my car on my break to listen to some of the third period since it was all tied up. Now it's back here for 2 games with it being a game each. Gotta love the comeback after beaing beaten 5-1 in the first game of the series! And who had the assist on the winning goal?! None other than Trevor Linden of course! And luongo sounded like he did everything but stand on his head again, so it was nice to get a win for that reason too! Play again here Sunday...

This is also a Happy Belated Birthday to Trace since I didn't blog yesterday! I saw her and gave her a card and part of her present, but the other part is still in the works! Need to get that done ASAP! Mum was at their place last night watching Sophia, so I know she and Brain went out somewhere, but I know they wanted to watch the game too, so not sure where they went. Hope you guys had a good time! The Canucks got you the win you wanted!

Well, a few things that need to get done this morning including cleaning up the kitchen since mum'll be over in a bit! I'm off to work again this afternoon after I drop Kyle off at music class too!
Bye for now,
Colleen

(Happy Early Birthday Trace!).

7th Heaven!

What a game! The Canucks Game 7 was last night against the Dallas Stars. You had to have been a little concerned considering the Nucks were up 3-1 in the series and then go the next 2 games without even a goal and then some real breakdowns in defence. Luongo can only stand on his head so many times. Game 5 was the heartbreaker with losing 1-0 in OT when we could have ended the series!

So, beck to last night. I missed the first period because I was tutoring, but hear dthat Dallas had scored. That made me very nervous because coming back on a team like Dallas wasn't going to be easy, but then in the second period, they scored!! And then they scored again in the third thanks to TREVOR LINDEN - my hero!! He really played a fantastic game and scored the winner for them. It ended up being 4-1 with 2 empty net goals. I think the city breathed a collective sigh of relief when the end of that game came. Now we only have 2 days and we play Anaheim in Round 2 Wednesday night! Can't wait!

Not too much going on here today I don't think since it's pouring rain, but I've gotta run for now because Kyle just got up and Nathan just started crying!

Cheers,
Colleen

Some scrapping today...

Well, I managed to get a little time to scrap and even though the pictures for this one aren't great, the memories are! The journaling is all about how lucky I am to have had time off with Tracy! Click on the layout to see a bigger version so you can read the journaling if you want!

Better not spend too long here as we need to get organized to go over to Tracy and Brian for dinner and so that the guys can work on the car!

BELIEVE IN BLUE!! GO CANUCKS GO!!
Cheers,
Colleen

So much going on...

Well, it just seems like there aren't enough hours in a day sometimes! I have been thinking about posting all week, but just haven't quite gotten to it!

Well, I guess I'll start with the Canucks who I'm sure all feel and look like Bieksa does in this picture. We were having such a great first round being up 3 games to 1 and now it's all tied up and 3 games each and we're going to a Game 7. The pressure these players face must be tremendous. I know it's part of their job an that they still need to perform and win, but I can't imagine being a player in a hockey town like Vancouver! Game 7 is tomorrow night and I know the province will be watching!

I did a little scrapping last night after working all day. Came home and had dinner and the George's parents came over for their "baby fix". I'm not sure what was up with Nathan last night, but he was all over the place. Fun for them to see him! After they left, I did a lttle scrapping and got this layout done.

Well, Nathan slept in, but I hear him now, so I'll have to come back later. It's George's turn to sleep in, so I'm on duty!!

Cheers,
Colleen

Not so Marvelous Monday...

This was one of those days when you just really don't want to get out of bed in the morning. I figured I would probably be tired, but I felt like I'd been run over by a truck! I've been dragging myself around for a while now with allergies bothering me and then not getting much sleep Friday night. I fee like I could sleep for about 16 hours and then might wake up feeling refreshed. That, however, we all know is not going to happen when you have 2 kids that get up at 6am and don't know what sleeping in is! One of them is already in bed again for a nap though and well have another this afternoon! The other will sleep for hours this afternoon would be my guess! Oh well...such is life!

I managed to get myself out of bed and jump in the shower and that helped a little. I'm on my first (big) cup of coffee, but there will no doubt be another too! I just have to remember to try and keep my patience in check when I'm like this because my fuse gets much shorter - particularly with Kyle and it's not really his fault other than that he's being 3! He was supposed to go to preschool this morning (and give me a break!), but as much as I don't want to, I'm keeping him home since his nose is still runny and he even sounds congested when he talks. I don't know if other parents bother since I've seen so many runny nosed kids at school, but I hope other people would as well. With any luck, he'll be OK to go on Wednesday!

I got one more layout done this weekend as part of a black and white challenge! It was challenging for me because I'm all about colour, but I like the way it turned out and it's just about how I'm now taking care of Sophia too. The two pictures with me in them were taken by Kyle! He sure loves the camera and taking pictures! I can only hope he enjoys photography as much as I do. He likes card making too, so maybe he'll even want to scrap with me as he gets a little older?!

Well, Kyle and I are going to play the matching game while Nathan and Sophia are napping, so I'd better be off!
Cheers,
Colleen

2 More!!

This was inspired by a layout in Ali Edwards' patterned paper book by Jamie Waters. I just love this book for ideas!! This is Nathan trying to get out of being strapped into his chair and he can get out of most anything these days! The high chair is another story altogether!

Some older pics from Christmas a couple of years ago. Hard to believe how much all these kids have grown and that their 4th birthdays are coming up here quickly!! I could never have imagined 4 years later when I met these wonderful women and their kids at our local mum's group!

Well, back over to the TTT cyber crop for a bit and see if I can try a few more things before the day is done!
Cheers,
Colleen

I'm on a roll!

Well, thanks to the TTT cyber crop, I managed to come home and actually scrap again tonight after work. We had a busy day at work and came home, had a bite to eat and watched a little TV before getting at it. I think the cup of coffee I had might have helped with the second wind!

I posted a little while ago that I didn't get any pictures of the Indian Vasakhi celebration because my camera was out of battery juice! These are the pictures from last year that I finally got around to scrapping. There's no such thing as "caught up" in my scrapping vocabulary and I'm fine with that. I have enough pictures to last me a lifetime!

Anyone that still wants to join us for the crop has all day tomorrow to check it out! See the link at the top left for TTT!
Cheers,
Colleen

Another layout done this morning!

I didn't get to sleep in much this morning because George had a chiropractor appt this morning. Not good considering I worked late and then got home and couldn't sleep! Think I finally fell asleep about 2:30am and was up again at 7:30. Had a BIG cup of coffee already and off for another one here shortly.

Kyle wanted to go with George, so we got him organized to do that. Nathan went for his nap and i got my shower in as well as a little scrapping. This one came together quickly, so I managed to finish it and it's another challenge entry for the cyber crop at Transparent Touches and Tags website!

Kyle is going to music class here this morning. It's sort of a crazy day here with George's appt, music class and then me heading to work. Thankfully, it all works out for timing and only having on vehicle! George'll spend the afternoon with the kids since I work 1-6:30. Hope to maybe do a little more scrapping this evening since there's no hockey!

I missed the last part of the game last night, but I guess I didn't miss much. I saw the first period, listened to the second on the way to work in the car and missed the third. I heard all the scoring though and none of it for Vancouver with it being a 2-0 loss! I can't imagine being at the game last night and paying all that money and not even getting a chance to cheer for your team after a goal! Oh well, better luck tomorrow!

Better run and get ready here - meaning get another cup of coffee for now!
Cheers,
Colleen

Gotta Love a WIN!!

WOW! OK, I'm not saying I want them all to be like that, but there's no doubt that trading for Luongo has made the Canucks season. I don't even know how someone stops 72 of 76 shots at home in a quadruple overtime game! The man is a machine. All I can say is Bertuzzi who??

It would have been nice if the Canucks had just tied it all up nicely in the third period when they were up by 2 goals, but at least they won because it would really suck to lose a game that long after leading the whole game!

Now the only thing is that they play again tomorrow night (Friday) and I work later in the evening. Might catch the first period and that's about it! No radio at work either. Might have to call George for updates or something!

BELIEVE IN BLUE!
Cheers,
Colleen

Please help by sending a card...

I have now heard about this little boy through a few sources and I'm hoping there are some of you out there that'll want to help too.

This is a request to help an 8 year old boy with Leukemia. I'm hoping you'll read the letter below that was in Diane magazine, send a Card to Shane, and then spread the word about this little boy's wish to everyone you know. Here is the letter:

"I'm writing in regard to one of my member's nephews who has leukemia. He is going to be 8 on May 30th, and his only birthday request is to receive as many birthday cards as possible. We have headed up a project with local schools and our members to ask family and friends to send him a card. If you can highlight this in Diane, it would spread it worldwide and be amazing to a dying little boy.

His address is as follows:

Shane Bernier
PO Box 484
Lancaster, Ontario
Canada K0C 1N0

Let's work together to spread the message and help make a little boy's birthday brighter. Don't say, ya that is a great idea and then get busy with life and forget. Right now, at least get out an envelope and address it. Leave it where you will see it and remember to make or buy a card and send it to Shane."

Hope some of you'll help! I heard he was actually hoping to break the world record for the most cards and enter the Guinness Book or World Records. Let's help him do that!

This is a true story and can be checked out here:

Much too late...

OK, it's going on 11pm and we're in the second overtime of the game and I should have been in bed a very long time ago. It's just one of those things though where I'm afraid that someone'll score as soon as I turn off the TV! It's been a much more exciting game than anticipated and went into overtime all tied up at 4 a piece! Not bad for a series that was supposed to be low-scoring. Of course, I could have lived without Dallas scoring so many!!

I was supposed to be in bed ages ago because my allergies have been horrible this week. I actually thought I was getting a cold earlier in the week, but I then realized it was just really bad allergies. The problem is that it's been every day and they wear me out. I was going to meet a friend, Gina, for coffee tonight after I did my tutoring, but I was just too tired! Came home and flopped on the sofa. I didn't even manage to work on the scrapbooking layout that I started!

I love my Canucks, but I just can't stay up too much longer because I'm tired and the boys get up very early! I've also got Sophia tomorrow and I work the next 3 days!! Come on BLUE! Score!!

Cheers,
Colleen

BELIEVE IN BLUE!!!

OK, so tonight's the night! Dallas is going to take a beating! I'm not sure it's going to be the most entertaining series what with Dallas' trap and slowing up the centre ice game, but it'll be fun to watch the Canucks win! I can't wait to see Luongo stand on his head stopping those shots coming at him. The Canucks have really been playing a team game and as long as they can maintain that consistency and have everyone step up their game, it'll be a very exciting playoff season!

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the leadership of the wonderful Trevor Linden -my all time fav for anyone that doesn't know! Fun to watch and not hard on the eyes either!

BELIEVE IN BLUE! GO CANUCKS GO!

Change the Batteries...

So, we were all excited on Saturday to go and see the Vaisakhi celebrations not too far from here. We went last year to see how the birth of Sikhism is celebrated in this area and we were welcomed and had a wonderful day. We headed up there and when we got close after walking a fair distance, we saw a lot of people. We got out the camera and after turning it on, it said "Change the batteries". So, here we were at this wonderful celebration full of colour and I couldn't take any pictures. It about did me in!

We walked all through the area with all the festivities. I'm sure there were more people than last year. Either that or maybe we went a little later and it was busier as a result of that. There were more "shows" with dancing and music as well. We were also pleased to see more people of different ethnic backgrounds sharing in the celebration.

We also had some amazing food! People stand on the street and pass out food to you as you go by. Kyle and Nathan had some pizza and Kyle was lucky enough to get a bag of chips too. Before we left, George and I stopped for a free plate of curry, rice and naan! Sooooooo delicious!!

We popped by Tracy's afterwards since they were having one of Sophia's birthday parties! This was her second party of 3! Gotta love being one! Tracy and Brian had invited us along with a group of their friends and their kids as well. We didn't get there when it started, so we missed the egg hunt, but we made it in time to watch Sophia have her cake! Funny that she wasn't too interested and only ended up having a couple of bites. Maybe she'll take after her dad!

We headed home for a relaxing evening after all that! Busy, but fun day and nice to spend it all together!

I'll save the Easter goings-on for another post!
Cheers,
Colleen

Happy Easter!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Easter. I had fun doing some Easter cards last night for the family we'll see this weekend for dinners. Nothing fancy, but I do love puttering with cards!

I was supposed to have yesterday off, but got called into work the night before. The manager had to make an extra trip to pick up stock and there's a scratch sale in the store, so they thought it might be busy. It was a good day at work though I only got to sleep until 7:30 yesterday morning, but even that's sleeping in in our house!

I had planned to have coffee with Dana-Lyn, but had to call and change those plans. Luckily though, we managed to get together in the evening after all the kids were in bed (since she has 2 as well!). We met at Starbucks and had a really good chat. She was sort of laughing at the drink I ordered though and it's a new one for me, but I call a "Princess" drink where it takes you 5 minutes to order: a grande, extra hot, decaf, non-fat with whip, half sweet Cinnamon Dolce Latte!! Now I do blame Tracy for this since it was her that introduced me to this drink! I swore I would never drink something like this, but I do occasionally now. I generally don't get Starbucks anyway since it's so expensive, but once in a while for a treat!

Today should be fun and we have a fair bit planned if all goes well. George is sleeping in right now and then later this morning, we're going to the Indian Festival celebrating the birth of Sikhism that we went to last year! It was a really great experience, so we're going to try again, especially since the weather is supposed to be great. After that, we're hoping to pop by Tracy's about 1pm for part of Sophia's birthday party since they're doing an Easter egg hunt. Then, it'll be home for naps again and maybe I can do some scrapping!

Well, gotta run for now, but hope to post some pictures again later!
Cheers,
Colleen

A Long One!

I survived my first day of looking after Sophia and working at the store. We had our usual crazy day around here with Brian dropping off Sophia about 7 this morning and then getting everyone fed and dressed to take Kyle to preschool. It was not too bad walking down there, but it poured when we went to pick him up. We've already gotten out money's worth out of the rain cover for the stroller!

Kyle had a great morning at school. They played in the "gym" or the old ice rink that now doesn't have any ice! They did some Easter stuff with bunny rabbits and they painted them. I think one of the paintings must have resulted in more of the "paint" being eaten than used for painting since it was pudding! They also used marshmallows and Cheerios on it for eyes and stuff! Very cute and Kyle gets really excited about showing everyone now.

We got home and had lunches and the little ones laid down. Kyle didn't want to nap, but he laid on the sofa with me for a bit. I just wanted to relax since I knew I had to go to work afterwards too. Tracy came and got Sophia at about 20 to 5 and George got home shortly after. I left the second he got home and got to work right on time pretty much! I think it'll be fine only having one car now as long as the traffic cooperates!

It wasn't too crazy busy at work, but it was steady. We also had lots of new stuff to put out, so my shift went fairly quickly actually. Tired now though, so it's off to bed for me. Tracy has the day off tomorrow, so I don't have Sophia. I have a play date scheduled too with Dana-lyn and her girls in the morning, so it'll be nice to see them again!

Cheers,
Colleen

Snow in April??

Yes, I know it's actually spring, but we had a couple of hours of snow this morning!! I don't remember having snow this late before! I remember a few years ago it snowed on Valentine's Day, but this is ridiculous! It was quite light and didn't last too long, but still surprising for us!

Kyle still had preschool this morning, so it took a little longer to get everyone ready to go since we had to bundle up and stay dry! Kyle got to wear his new Spiderman raincoat (which he got compliments on at school!!) and he was pretty excited about that as well as being able to use his new Diego umbrella! I got out the new rain cover I got for the double stroller and that worked well too! Not a perfect fit since my stroller is a little different shape than some, but everyone stayed warm and dry!

Had to laugh at Kyle once we got to school. We were waiting outside the class for the teachers to open the doors and he started counting backwards from ten to zero. I realized that he was hoping when he got to zero that the doors would open. He must have done this about 10 times before the door did actually open! He's loving school and can barely say bye to me before he runs off to sit in the circle! The nice thing is that he's always so glad to see me when I go to get him!

Not too much else going on around here. I worked both days this weekend after not working an evening shift all last week which is unusual on both accounts. I got called in early on Saturday because they were so busy and then there was a big sale on Sunday and we had people lined up before we were open! I really do enjoy getting out and working a bit and doing something fun too!

Came home last night to a house that I wouldn't exactly call clean, so I ended up working to resolve that little issue. I can't start a new week with a messy house! Drives me crazy. I didn't get everything done I wanted, but felt better after doing what I did manage to get done.

I did manage to get a little scrapping in on the weekend. I went to a crop at the store I work at on Friday night with a big group of girls from my mum's group. We had a good time, but I can't say I got a ton of scrapping done. I find that I can't finish layouts there because I can't take all my goodies (too much stuff!) and I have to journal at home when it's quiet! So, as a result, I have 5 layouts that need finishing! I left them and did this one on Saturday night with a couple of fairly recent pictures of the boys. Kyle is always asking me to take pictures of the two of them on the sofa! I can't tell you how many of these I have. I should do a little mini album of just those! It would be fun over a period of years!

Well, better go do a few things while all three kidlets are in bed. I don't think Kyle is sleeping, but I get him to lay down for a half hour for a rest and once in a while he's fall asleep - usually on preschool days!

Cheers,
Colleen
